Not a whole lot else is known about the years spent prior to his ascension to the public spotlight in 2021. But we have a little information about his past, Keem grew up alongside a twin brother named OY Quan.
Legal Issues:
In the summer of 2018, he and his brother were 16 years old when they found themselves face-to-face with the police. At that time 4 officers were investigating an altercation taking place in Keem and Quan’s apartment building on Westchester Avenue.
With these two being less than enthused to find local authorities invading their own personal space, the brothers recorded themselves on video hurling obscenities at the police. They uploaded the clip on social media where it quickly went viral.
The video has been scrubbed clean of the internet but reportedly consisted of two minutes of these two demeaning and insulting the officers before instructing them to quote. After posting that video it turns out that things weren’t quite as over as they thought.
Only a day later Rakeem was arrested at 2:30 in the morning for a reported strong-armed robbery that involved the theft of a scooter. Police then arrested his twin brother Quan right around the same time for a totally unrelated robbery.
In May of 2022, SuharHill Keem was arrested by police for reasons that are still unclear and then shipped off to Riker’s island according to a Facebook post from his mom. Going by the rumors on social media it looks like Keem’s arrest was a finishing expedition by officers.
Music Career:
Prior to 2021, SugarHill Keem was a musician, back he literally never even picked up the mic until the fall of 2021. Having spent his entire life in the streets Keem had absolutely no expectations that a career in music would take him anywhere.
It wasn’t even something he was considering trying until he met the Bronx rapper Sha EK who invited him into the recording studio at that time. Prior to that, Keem and drill rapper Edot Baby had grown up around one another in the same neighborhood for a long time.
But it wasn’t until Keem was sending time in lock-up (whether for the crime we spoke about earlier or something else unrelated), that he met She EK and began envisioning a different life for himself.
After striking up a quick report with one another these two teamed up for the underground track Brothers which was released in September of 2021. A few months later the two of them then collaborated with Edot Baby to release Keem’s biggest hit to date titled “Touch The Ground“.
From there Keem knocked off a couple of solo tracks all of which were able to capitalize on these early appearances alongside more established names to generate millions and millions of views on each and every new single. These songs are including Don’t Get Shot, Don’t Trip, Everybody’s shot, and Flock At The Flockas.
Besides, with the amount of music he is been putting out lately, this rapper may actually need two names just to get credit for it all. After establishing himself with the help of other artists from his own town, SugarHill Keem started working overtime in 2022.
He began releasing a plethora of new music including Can’t-Wait, Evil Twins, and many more.
