Early Life

Mandy Harvey was born Amanda Lynn Harvey on the 2nd of January 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to parents Joe Harvey and Valerie. Her mom is a public school teacher while her father worked as a minister. Mandy grew up with three siblings including her older sister named Katie Emrich.

She developed an interest in music at an extremely early age and Harvey was just four years old when she began singing. The family relocated to St. Cloud, Florida when Many were 10 years old. She suffered from hearing problems and went through many surgeries as a child. 

Harvey was first discovered while attending Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado. From that point forward she took her passion more seriously and began pursuing her singing career. In 2006 she completed her graduation from Longmont High School. 

Mandy gradually lost her hearing after she had a connective tissue condition, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Later she ultimately lost her remaining hearing by the age of 18. She was enrolling in vocal music education at Colorado State University around the same time. She eventually quit studying at the university after she totally lost her hearing.

Career

Mandy became depressed and even quit music in 2007 after she completely lost her hearing power. Yet she never stopped singing and found a way to fix pitches with the aid of visual tuners. In 2008 Mandy got a chance to meet Mark Sloniker a “jazz pianist” at Jay’s Bistro in Fort Collins. From that point forward she began performing regularly at Bristo. 

Around this time Mandy was not only performing her jazz songs at Bistro but she also got an opportunity to show her skills at Dazzle Jaz Lounge in Denver, and also recorded her three solo studio jazz albums.

In 2009 Many dropped her debut album titled Smile which earned a lot of success in the music industry by receiving much appreciation from JazzTimes. JazzTimes also claimed that Mandy’s lyrics are rich and captivating. In the very next year, she dropped her second album After You’ve Gone which also became successful and led her to earn the 2011s VSA’s International Young Soloist Award. 

Later in 2014, Harvey dropped her third studio album, All of Me, and she followed that up with her fourth project called Nice To Meet You released in 2019. In the year 2022, Mandy Harvey came up with the release of her fifth album Paper Cuts. 

Breakthrough

The biggest breakthrough moment of Harvey’s career came in 2017 when she participated in the popular singing reality show called  America’s Got Talent in which she appeared in the 12th Season. Her outstanding performance on the talent show earned her Golden Buzzer on her audition from the judge Simon Cowell. She then gained further recognition for performing her original songs using her ukulele during the entire show. 

Mandy finished in fourth place in America’s Got Talent show. In 2017 she published a memoir called Sensing the Rhythm: Finding My Voice in a World Without Sound along with a co-author named Mark Atteberry.

That same year she gave an interview to BBC where she stated that she received death threats from the Deaf community for advertising hearing activities. After she joined the stage for the first time, she was accused of endorsing oralism.

Mandy Harvey revealed that she has been married to Travis who is from France. In early 2022, she announced that the two were expecting their first child. On the 4th of June 2022, Mandy Harvey and Travis welcomed their first child a son named Louis.
